A pensioner (82) dies after being attacked in the street before police arrest two teenage boys

Police have launched a murder investigation into the death of an 82-year-old pensioner who was attacked.

An elderly man died this morning after the attack on Stoke Road last Tuesday.

Two teenage boys, aged 15 and 16, were arrested on Wednesday on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent and were released on bail.

The victim’s next of kin have been informed of his death and are receiving support from specially trained officers from Thames Valley Police.

According to police, the victim has not yet been formally identified.

Detective Inspector Nick Hind, of Thames Valley Police’s Major Crime Squad, said: “Firstly, my thoughts are with the victim’s family and friends at this difficult time.

“We believe this is an isolated incident and that there is no major risk to the public.”

Police have urged witnesses or anyone with information about the incident, or anyone with CCTV or dashcam footage, to call 101 or make a report via the Thames Valley Police website, quoting reference number 43240460762.
