Four people were hospitalized after a car crash and fire in Sterling Heights

STERLING HEIGHTS, Mich. (WXYZ) — Four people were hospitalized following a crash in Sterling Heights on Saturday evening (September 28).

The incident occurred at 18 Mile Road and Pickett Ridge around 6:30 p.m. The services that arrived at the scene found an accident and fire in two vehicles.

Investigators say the driver of an Orange Mustang was traveling westbound on 18 Mile Road when he lost control of the vehicle, colliding with the driver of an eastbound Silver Ram pickup truck. Authorities say the crash caused a fire, and several witnesses and bystanders helped people in the vehicles from the wreckage.

All four people involved in the accident were transported to hospital, and the driver and passenger of the Mustang (17 years old) are in critical condition. The driver and passenger of the Ram truck, both 25, were hospitalized but are expected to recover.

Authorities say weather was a factor in the crash and alcohol/drug use is not believed to be a factor.
