Alvaro Santiago Par-Toc, 23, was arrested Tuesday night for allegedly exposing himself in front of multiple women throughout West Jackson by lifting his shirt and pulling down his pants.

Since the beginning of September, six incidents have been reported at several stores and on a bike path near Russ Garaman Park

Jackson Police Lt. Russ Ruschill said police collected reports from victims and surveillance footage from stores before deciding to ask the public for tips. They made public details about the suspect on Tuesday, which led to information from a community member via Facebook.

“We spoke to someone who knew our current defendant,” Ruschill said, “who said they worked with him and recognized him.”

Police made the arrest on Tuesday evening.

Two of the six reports were filed after police first contacted the public. Ruschill said that’s common in cases like this. He believes there may be more reports in the future as information about Santiago Par-Toc’s arrest becomes more available.

“I don’t think we’ll be isolated from just six incidents,” Ruschill said.

Ruschill added that police take crimes such as “indecent exposure” very seriously.

“Whenever we deal with cases like this, we are very concerned because they are usually initial cases and we don’t want people to progress to sexual assault, groping or going further,” he said.

Santiago Par-Toc was arraigned Thursday afternoon and bail was set at $5,000. He was charged with indecent exposure in the city court, and with stalking in the district court. If found guilty, he could face a fine and imprisonment of up to a year.
