Southwick woman charged with child abuse sentenced to 120 days without bail

WESTFIELD — A Southwick mother accused of abusing one of her two school-age children was found dangerous at a Sept. 26 hearing in Westfield District Court and ordered held without bail for at least 120 days, according to court records days.

Amari E. Lopez, 28, of Point Grove Road in Southwick, was arraigned early last week on five counts of assault and battery on a child and three counts of reckless endangerment of a child after an investigation determined that one of her the child was injured multiple times. Court records show that he was hit and beaten by her.

Police began investigating Lopez after administrators and staff at the child’s school reported that between September 2023 and May 2024, the child began appearing with various facial injuries, according to a statement of facts prepared by a police detective of Southwick, Sgt. Tomasz Krutka.
