Nine people killed and at least 20 injured when a bus collided with a truck in Madhya Pradesh’s Maihar district

Maihar (MP): The death toll in a private bus accident in Madhya Pradesh’s Maihar district rose to nine with three more people succumbing to their injuries, police said on Sunday.

Nearly 20 people were also injured after a bus rammed into a stationary, stone-filled truck in Maihar on Saturday around 11 p.m., he added.

The accident occurred on national road No. 1. 30, approximately 25 km from the district headquarters – according to the police.

The bus was heading to Nagpur via Rewa after starting from Prayagraj and crashed near Nadan Dehat police station, Maihar Superintendent of Police (SP) Sudhir Agrawal said. PTI.

While six fatalities were previously reported, three more people succumbed to their injuries in hospital, bringing the death toll to nine, he added.

Police said the dead included all men, including a four-year-old boy.

Agrawal added that the injured were taken to various hospitals, including: to Rewa.

Initially, everything indicated that the bus was traveling at high speed, he added.

Rescue teams had to use a gas cutter and an excavator to get through the crashed bus and extract the passengers, he added.

According to the police, the rescue operation ended around 2 a.m. on Sunday.
