Rockingham County woman charged with indecent act with minor pleads no contest

HARRISONBURG, Va. (WHSV) – A Rockingham County woman filed a no contest plea Friday in Rockingham County District Court on a charge related to her alleged relationship with a minor.

Alice Lehman, 59, was originally charged with criminal indecency with a child in connection with an incident that occurred almost 15 years ago. As part of the plea agreement, her charge was reduced to contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

WHSV interviewed Lehman in 2022, when her older brother was sentenced to nine years in prison for repeatedly sexually abusing her in the 1970s. Around this time, Lehman also reported a sexual encounter she had with a boy from her Mennonite community in 2010 year.

Lehman reported that the teenager was the aggressor in the incident that occurred in 2010. However, authorities investigated her claim and determined that she was the aggressor, leading to the original charge of indecency with a child.

According to evidence presented by the prosecutor in court, Lehman had been giving the teenager driving lessons since 2008. Authorities said she gave him her cell phone without her parents’ knowledge so they could communicate. Prosecutors also said that just before the teenager turned 18 in the summer of 2010, he and Lehman had sexual intercourse in his vehicle. She was 44 years old then.

On Friday morning, Lehman pleaded not guilty and stands by its version of events.

A district court judge found sufficient evidence of Lehman’s guilt. She received 12 months of supervised probation for this offense and is prohibited from contacting minors without another adult present.

The victim in the case, who is now an adult, will also receive a protective order against Lehman.

If Lehman violates probation or other terms of the plea agreement, she could face prison time. He will return to Rockingham County Circuit Court for a retrial on September 29, 2025.
