A man accused of breaking into several vehicles

JONESBORO, Ark. (KAIT) – A Jonesboro man faces several charges after police say he broke into multiple vehicles.

On Friday, September 27, Craighead County District Judge David Boling found probable cause to charge 36-year-old Delosangeles Harper with five counts of breaking or entering a vehicle, three counts of theft of a debit or credit card, and one count of theft by obtaining a debit card.

Harper was arrested after being linked to five burglary and vehicle theft cases.

According to the initial statement, on Thursday, June 20, Jonesboro police officers were called to Miller Street in reference to a theft of property.

The victim told officers that surveillance video showed a man stealing items from the front porch of her home and entering her vehicle “without any apparent forced entry.”

The second affidavit states that on Tuesday, July 30, officers were called to the Cedar Heights Apartments for a burglary.

The victim told police that someone had broken into his unlocked vehicle, but nothing appeared to be missing. Surveillance footage shows the suspect entering the vehicle and “rummaging around the area as if he was looking for something.”

According to an affidavit filed on Thursday, August 15, officers were again called to the Cedar Heights Apartments for another burglary.

Upon arrival, it turned out that the vehicle had been broken into and several items had been taken. Surveillance footage shows the suspect walking nearby at the time of the break-in, and police noted he was “seen placing items into the front pocket of his hoodie.”

According to a third statement, officers were called to a home on Eldridge Street on Friday, September 6.

The victim told officers someone entered his vehicle and stole several items, including a diaper bag and a wallet containing his ID and debit cards.

In a fourth affidavit filed on Wednesday, September 18, officers were dispatched to a home in the 300 block of North Caraway in reference to a burglary.

The victim stated that during the burglary, the suspect stole her wallet, phones and debit cards.

The victim received a notification from his bank asking if he had used his card for the transaction.

“Multiple transactions that he did not authorize were discovered to have occurred at Kum & Go, CVS Pharmacy, IHOP and 24 Hours Cart,” the statement reads.

After reviewing tapes from five cases, Harper was identified as a suspect.

A warrant was issued for Harper’s arrest on Tuesday, August 20, and he was arrested on Tuesday, September 24.

During an interview with Mirandized, Harper admitted to breaking in and taking the items after he was shown multiple photos from the cases. He also pleaded guilty to stealing debit cards on September 6.

Harper is being held at the Craighead County Detention Center on a $150,000 cash/surety bond. Judge Boiling ordered him to wear a GPS ankle monitor if he binds himself.

Harper’s arraignment date is set for Monday, October 28.
