Musheer Khan is injured in a road accident

Mumbai batsman Musheer Khan suffered a fracture in a road accident in Uttar Pradesh. Details on his injuries are awaited. When the incident occurred, Indian national cricketer Sarfaraz Khan’s younger brother was traveling with his father Naushad Khan from Kanpur to Lucknow to take part in the Iran Cup.

Musheer will miss the match and his absence is also a big blow to Mumbai as the 19-year-old has been in sensational form. The match between Mumbai and Rest of India will be played at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow from October 1-5. Musheer will be absent from some Ranji Trophy matches, which start from October 11.

β€œHe did not come to Lucknow with the Mumbai team for the Iran Cup. He was traveling from Azamgarh with his father to Lucknow when the mishap occurred,” a source told TOI.

In nine first-class matches, he scored 716 runs at an average of 51.14, including three hundreds and one fifty. He scored eight goals. Musheer scored a brilliant 181 on his debut for India B in the Duleep Trophy against India A in Bengaluru. He was one of the top players in the U-19 World Cup.

He is likely to be selected for the India tour after his impressive performances in domestic cricket. In the previous Ranji Trophy season, he scored 203 not out in the quarter-final against Baroda and 136 in the final against Vidarbha.

The Mumbai Cricket Association has not issued an official statement on the accident, but the selectors are ready to announce a replacement for the injured batsman soon.
