Another suspect arrested in Hamilton baseball bat attack

Another suspect has been arrested in connection with an attack at a Tim Hortons in Stoney Creek, Ont., that left a man and his son injured.

Hamilton police announced the arrest Friday in an update on the incident that occurred Aug. 24 in the parking lot of the Tim Hortons store at 1242 Highway 8.

Police said the victims were confronted by a group of men who refused to turn down the loud music that was disturbing nearby homes and preventing residents from sleeping.

“The confrontation quickly escalated into a fight during which one of the victims was struck in the head with a baseball bat, sustaining serious injuries,” police said. The other victim suffered minor injuries.

Two days later, a 19-year-old man was arrested and charged with aggravated assault, making threats to kill and two counts of assault with a weapon.

On Friday, police said a second suspect, Nicholas Cappella, 20, from Grimsby, was charged with attempted murder, assault with a weapon and two counts of making threats to kill.

Police said the investigation was ongoing and more people could be arrested.
