Omaha family seeks justice for man killed in August at I-29 racetrack

OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) – An Omaha father shared his heartbreaking grief over the loss of his son.

“When are we going to put our guns down? Isn’t it time we put them down?” said Charles William Sr.

Charles Williams Jr., 27, and Marcus Johnson, 28, were killed Aug. 10 at the I-29 racetrack in Mills County, Iowa. They were attending a concert.

“We got a call saying our son had been shot,” Williams Sr. told 6 News. “We don’t know why, we don’t know anything.”

The Iowa State Patrol and Omaha Police are working to solve the case. Until then, the Williams family is hoping someone will come forward.

“It could be the smallest piece of information that helps us find out who did this to our child, to our baby,” Williams Sr. said.

Charles Jr. was known as a fun-loving and ambitious man. He worked to establish his own shipping company. Most importantly, he was a devoted father to his son Charles III and daughter Janiyah.

“I miss him so much. I love him,” said Charles Williams III.

Faith helps the Williams family cope with the tragedy, along with their newest addition, a dog named Goldie. But they won’t rest until justice is served.

“It just consumes you every day, every hour, almost every minute. It’s really hard to deal with,” Williams said.
