Legendary 80s drummer dies at age 73

Kenny Hyslop, best known as drummer for Simple Minds and Slik, has died at the age of 73.

The cause of death was not reported.

Midge Ure, who played with Hyslop in the band Slik, posted on X about his death.

“Just got on a plane (British Airways) from JFK and heard my old friend/Slik/Simple Minds drummer Kenny Hyslop has passed away,” Ure wrote. “He lived a very full life! Huge condolences to his friends and family. He was much loved.

“Kenny was ‘Chris’ Slik. We were very close in those early years. We bonded immediately over our shared love of button-down cowboy shirts! It’s the little things that allow great friendships to develop.”

Hyslop, as a member of Slik, helped the band release Forever and Ever. He also played with Simple Minds in 1981.
