Man hit by truck dies on Northwest Side, SAPD says

SAINT ANTONIO – San Antonio police said a man died after he was hit by a truck on the Northwest Side.

The accident happened around 7:50 p.m. in the 8600 block of Huebner Road.

SAPD said the victim failed to cross the street in a crosswalk. Officers also said poor lighting in the area may have contributed to the crash.

Authorities said the truck driver remained at the scene of the crash and was not believed to be under the influence of alcohol or other drugs.

Witnesses at the scene say they saw the driver driving in his lane moments before he spotted the victim on the road.

Police said paramedics tried to save the victim’s life, but a doctor who arrived at the scene declared him dead.

“Paramedics reported detecting the odor of narcotics on the victim’s breath while performing procedures on him, but the case remains under investigation at this time,” SAPD police said.

The victim has not yet been identified.
