Muslim Man Arrested for ‘Cheating’ Hindu Dalit, Forcing Her Into Marriage, ‘Raping’ Her

Ghaziabad: Police have arrested a 38-year-old Muslim man on charges of duping a Dalit woman, convincing her to marry him under a false identity and then raping her.

Accused Danish, using Dev’s alibi, was arrested by officials from Sahibabad police station, a senior officer said.

“The woman met ‘Dev’ around one-and-a-half years ago when she was applying for a driving licence. According to her complaint, in April last year, ‘Dev’ convinced her to wear a ‘mangalsutra’ and engage in physical relations during a visit to a hotel in Sahibabad,” said Deputy Commissioner of Police (ACP) Sahibabad Rajneesh Upadhyay.

“They then moved in together in a rented flat in Dasna where she got pregnant. Danish secretly gave her an abortion pill and it was only after the pregnancy ended that she came to know about his real identity,” Upadhyay added.

After discovering the truth, the victim confronted Danish at his home in July this year, where she was allegedly attacked by members of his family, he said.

Subsequently, a Zero FIR was filed at Kapurpur police station in Hapur district and later transferred to Sahibabad police station. A formal case was registered on September 12.

Upadhyay said the presence of both the victim and Danish at Hotel Sahibabad was confirmed by evidence.

Danish has been charged under Sections 115(2)/123(2)/318(4), 64 and 3(2)5 of the SC/ST Offences Against Life and Health Act and has been sent to prison, the officer added.
