Police say motorcyclist dies after speeding and hitting power pole

TUCSON, Ariz. (KOLD/Gray News) – Authorities say a 29-year-old man died after hitting a power pole while riding his motorcycle.

KOLD reports that Ruben Moses Chavez Lozoya died in a motorcycle accident early Saturday morning, September 14.

The Tucson Police Department said officers responded to the crash at the intersection of E Congress St and N Tool Ave, along with Tucson Fire Department officials.

Lozoya died on the spot.

Based on interviews and evidence collected on the road, officers believe Lozoya was driving at a high rate of speed as he headed west on Congress Street in the median.

Officers say he lost control, hit a raised median and collided with a utility pole. He wasn’t wearing a helmet.

Traffic police are investigating possible impairment.

The investigation is ongoing.
