Man accused of blinding Nashville police helicopter

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) – A 21-year-old man is facing felony charges after he allegedly blinded a Metro Nashville police helicopter with a laser over the weekend.

Police said Jose Heriberto Gomez Sanchez was arrested late Saturday evening on Nolensville Pike.

Sanchez has been charged with two counts of serious assault on the crew of a police helicopter.

MNPD posted a recording of the incident on social media.

“Using a laser on an MNPD aircraft crew is a criminal offence and may cause temporary blindness to the pilots,” the police said.
