Houghton County is expected to see pellet-sized hail and thunderstorms on Monday.

At 6:07 p.m. EST Monday, the National Weather Service issued a severe thunderstorm warning for Houghton County that could last until 7:07 p.m. EST.

Storms are expected to produce wind gusts up to 40 mph and drop pellet-sized hail (0.5 inch).

“At 6:07 p.m., Doppler radar was tracking a severe thunderstorm over or near Houghton County Airport, moving northeast at 25 mph,” the weather service said. “Gusting winds could down trees and throw around unsecured structures. Minor hail damage is possible.”
