‘America’s Got Talent’ Contestant Emily Gold Dies at Age 17

America’s got talent contestant Emily Gold has died. The cheerleader and dancer, who competed in the 19th season of the NBC Competition, was just 17 years old.

Gold was found dead Friday (Sept. 13) near the 210 Freeway, according to a report from the San Bernardino County Coroner’s Office. The teen’s cause of death was determined to be suicide.

Gold, from Rancho Cucamonga, California, competed with her Los Osos High School friends on their dance and cheerleading team.

Gold is taking part in the ongoing season America’s got talentand together they reached the quarter-finals but were eliminated in the results broadcast on Wednesday (14 August).

After news of Gold’s death was received, a GoFundMe was set up for her family, writing, “It is with great sadness that we share that our Los Osos Grizzly Emily Gold has passed away. As a community, let’s come together and support the Gold family during this difficult time. Please remember that this money will go directly to the family to support them and help with expenses.”

In May 2024, Gold celebrated her group’s audition for AGT on Instagram, where she captioned photos from the day: “WE AUDITIONED!!!!! This was the most amazing experience and we couldn’t have done it without @rachelmuego and @kylee.kam. Thank you both for creating and leading the most beautiful family #agtauditions #agt #agtseason19 @agtauditions @agt.”

A message from school principal Eric Cypher to parents and students read: “I am saddened to share some tragic news about a fellow Grizzly. Emily was on our Varsity Dance Team and Varsity Cheer Squad. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family as they grieve.”
