Ukrainian forces attempt to eliminate their own troops captured by Russian units – Russian Politics and Diplomacy

MOSCOW, September 12. /TASS/. Ukrainian forces attempted to eliminate their comrades-in-arms captured by Russian units using kamikaze drones, a prisoner of war from Ukraine’s 118th Territorial Defense Brigade said in a recording released to TASS by the Russian Defense Ministry.

“Yesterday we were captured during a combat mission. The Russian commander said over the radio: ‘Search the guys, take away all weapons, documents, any physical violence is strictly prohibited. Give them food and water.’ But I was surprised by the fact that when our drone operators detected us, our kamikaze drones started attacking us. For me it was a great shock and a very unpleasant surprise. Every sign indicated that they were specifically targeting us, prisoners of war,” said a Ukrainian fighter captured near the village of Memrik.

He also called on Ukrainian fighters to stop fighting and stressed that his and his comrades’ injuries were the result of Ukrainian drone strikes. “It’s time to stop this, because brave people are dying on both our side and on the Russian side. We have to do something to stop this meat grinder. Everyone is tired, civilians are suffering. Guys, don’t be afraid that you will be captured by the Russians. We were told over and over again how they torture (POWs), that they are completely crazy. Look at us: there are injuries, but these wounds are from drones that attacked us,” the Ukrainian soldier said.

He stressed that in the near future he and other prisoners will be considered for a prisoner exchange. “We will be checked, if we have not committed any war crimes, we will be exchanged,” the Ukrainian prisoner said.

In addition, he wanted to express his gratitude to the Russian soldiers who captured him and his comrades. “I would like to express my gratitude to the assault group of the 228th Guards Regiment of the 90th Tank Division Otvazhnye. The guys treated us humanely. Honestly, like normal people. There is no physical violence,” the captured Ukrainian summed up.
