Met Police Commissioner Sir Mark Rowley has been filmed grabbing a journalist’s microphone and throwing it on the floor as he stormed out of a Cobra meeting this morning.

The Met Commissioner attended the meeting in Westminster on Monday in response to the wave of violent riots happening across Britain.

He was asked a question about two-tier policing as he left the Cabinet Office, before taking hold of the journalist’s mic and dropping it.

As the Met Commissioner left the meeting, he was asked a question about two-tier policing, but Sir Mark grabbed a Sky journalist’s microphone and dropped it to the ground before walking off while other members of the press followed him.

Downing Street called an emergency Cobra response meeting today (August 5), this involved relevant ministers and police representatives who discussed the response in the coming days to ensure there is no repeat of the violent scenes.

This comes after Humza Yousaf called for the Army to be deployed in a bid to stop thugs unleashing chaos across the UK as riots continue across the country.

The former first minister of Scotland believes the “army can help to get control where the police are unable.”

Police clashed with crowds as the escalating violence – one week on from the Southport stabbings – continued over the weekend across the country.

In Rotherham on Sunday (August 4), anti-immigration rioters smashed the windows of the Holiday Inn Express before starting fires.

Masked men hurled lengths of wood, chairs and bottles with some spraying fire extinguishers at police officers amid the 700-strong crowd.

There were also riots in Middlesbrough. Hundreds of far-right protesters squared up to police shields at Middlesbrough’s Cenotaph, throwing bricks cans and pots at officers. One shouted at them: “It’s our f******* country.”

While horrifying footage shows thugs posing in front of a burning car in Sunderland with one man standing on the bonnet while the two other men clench their arms in the air, after far-Right rioters are believed to have set the car on fire, fire bombed a police station and also set a police car alight.
