RIP Frank Fritz, 60: American Pickers' Mike Wolfe and Danielle Colby Share 'Heartbroken' Reactions to Ex's Death

About two months later American collectors favorite Danielle Colby had to deal with convincing fans that reports of her death were just a hoax, and reality TV fans are now dealing with a legitimate loss. Longtime former co-host Frank Fritz, who had struggled with multiple health issues in recent years, has died at the age of 60.

American collectorsTeam principal Mike Wolfe took to Instagram to share the sad news with his friends, fans and followers, many of whom have also supported Fritz over the years. This is how his touching post began:

It is with a broken heart that I share with you all that Frank passed away last night. I’ve known Frank for over half my life, and what I saw on TV was always what I saw: a dreamer who was as sensitive as he was funny. At the same time he was off-camera, Frank was able to reach the hearts of many people just by being himself.

Indeed, Fritz’s versatile qualities combined with his keen interests during his hopeful treasure hunts have made him a beloved part of the series since its beginnings in 2010. It’s hard to imagine that anyone at the time could have predicted how popular this character would become. they both become like Collectors it has conquered most of its cable competition.

Mike Wolfe mentioned this feeling of not knowing early on, continuing to honor the memory of Frank Fritz. In his words:

Who would have thought that we would be sharing the cockpit of a white van in front of millions of people interested in our adventures. Before the show, we went together to places we had no idea existed, without any goal and simply sharing the passion of discovering something interesting and historical. We took countless trips and traveled so many miles and I feel blessed that I was able to be with him as he made his final journey home. I love you buddy and I will miss you so much. I know you’re in a better place.

Wolfe and Fritz had previously had a falling out, and the latter was reportedly fired from the show after taking time off for health reasons. Fritz later mentioned that he went to rehab for alcoholism and suffered a stroke in July 2022. He appeared to recover over time, with the two former stars reportedly mending fences by mid-2023 and rumors circulating that attempts were being made about his return to the series.

Fellow collector Danielle Colby shared a tribute to her late friend on Instagram:

Frank, I will miss your ability to make everyone laugh, your love of talking tattoos, your epic collections, but what I will miss most is those little flashes of vulnerability from time to time. Frank, you loved your cat and your mother, and we had those things in common. You will be missed for all these reasons and many more. Rest in peace Dear Dog❤️‍🩹

American collectors airs new episodes on A&E on Wednesday nights, along with blocks of reruns airing on the network. It is assumed that one or more upcoming episodes will be a tribute to Frank Fritz in some form.
