SHO sentenced to two years for raping policewoman

Ludhiana: Case filed against inspector Kulwinder Singh, SZMullanapur Dakha Police Station, for raping a policewoman for about two years. The policewoman alleged that the accused also filmed the entire incident. She said the accused took her to his place and sometimes sent his goons to pick her up from Moga.
Punjab Criminal Police Station Mohali has lodged an FIR under section 376 (rape) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the IPC in connection with the complaint of a 29-year-old Punjab Police Policeman. She lodged a complaint with Punjab’s Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav in July this year, following which an investigation was initiated.
In her police complaint (a copy of which is with TOI), the victim stated that she joined the police in 2019 and was posted in Moga, where the accused was the SHO. The defendant initially addressed her as “daughter” and told her to talk to his wife and daughter on the phone.
She testified that on February 15, 2022, while returning home from work, she received a call from the defendant who told her that his wife and daughter wanted to meet her. The accused picked her up in his car and took her to his place of residence. When they arrived, she realized that Kulwinder’s wife and daughter were not at home. When asked where they were, the defendant replied that they were in the bedroom. She testified that the defendant harassed her when she entered the bedroom. She added that she tried to escape, but to no avail.
The accused, who filmed the entire incident, threatened to share the video online if she told anyone about it, she added. The woman said that the accused raped her repeatedly in different places under the threat of distributing the video. SSP Ludhiana Rural Navneet Singh Bains said, “Following investigation, Mohali Crime Police Station lodged an FIR against Inspector Kulwinder Singh on Saturday. The inspector has been absent from duty since then.”
